SPS
SPS ( small polyp stony ) corals come in a variety of shapes and in variations of every imaginable color. Years ago, these corals were practically impossible to keep, but the work of many marine biologists and some very determined hobbyists have made many SPS species far simpler to sustain and maintain. Although most synthetic sea salts available contain calcium, magnesium, alkalinity, strontium , Iodine and potassium, additional supplementation of these ions are essential to maintain these branching and plating corals. They also require strong and sometimes random flow as well as strong lighting. While the majority of the energy of SPS corals come from the lighting, the small polyps are highly capable of catching small particles of food and other animal waste and converting it to energy! SPS corals require excellent water conditions!
