House Hunting Checklist – What to REALLY Look For
Walk through your daily routine – Where will you make coffee? Where do your keys
go? How will you move through the space?
Check the natural light – Visit at different times of the day. Does the ‘bright and airy’
listing turn into a dungeon by 4 PM?
Test the shower pressure – Weak water pressure can ruin your mornings!
Open and close every cabinet – Some kitchens are beautiful but impractical. Will that
stunning island have enough storage?
Bring a tape measure – Make sure your furniture fits! That ‘spacious’ bedroom might
barely fit a queen-sized bed.
Check the outlets – Where will you plug in your coffee maker, TV, or bedside lamp?
Evaluate the kitchen layout – Will you be taking unnecessary steps while cooking?
Pay attention to bedroom placement – Is the master bedroom facing the sunrise?
Will street noise keep you up at night?
Look at closet and storage space – Will it realistically fit all your clothes, shoes, and
storage needs?
Observe the neighborhood sounds – Are there loud neighbors, barking dogs, or constant
traffic noise?
Test the commute – Drive, walk, or take transit from the home to work at rush hour.
Check cell service & Wi-Fi connectivity – Dead zones can be a daily frustration!
Visit on a rainy day – Are there leaks, puddles, or poor drainage around the property?
Talk to the neighbors – Get insights into the area from those who already live there.
Check parking availability – Street parking or garage? Will you struggle to find a spot?
