AYA Educational Institute is recruiting teachers, teacher supporters, and volunteers. Should you head the call, you may play various roles to support students, parents, and teachers learning to teach a new way - the AYA Way - to make scholar warriors, healers and builders. We need:

This is a call to the teacher in you - the questioning one, the dreaming one, the building one. The one that wanted to touch everyone, and everything, The quiet one. The one who wanted to be alone to take time to figure it out. The one who used the rhythms of clashing and blending ideas to create a path to resolution - the loud one. Yes, you - Baba, Uncle, Mama, Aunt, Grandmother, Grandfather, Elder, Adult, and Youth volunteer.

• Too many are choosing to leave us -  using fantasy to teleport themselves back into their mother’s wombs and backward, backward, beyond backward. Since 2017, Black children are increasing making a choice unheard of - even during our darkest hours on this Continent. They are choosing to end their lives. • Too many others are here, but not really. Over the years, they’ve become shells of themselves. We’ve become shells of ourselves. Without community and cultural adjustments, our and their sustained injuries morphs into surrender to false selves sometimes wearing the superhero uniform. • The veneer changes. Excited or depressed, flamboyant or sunken, miseducation keeps the authentic one away and lures our youth into cycles of suffocating self-doubt and compensatory bravado. Isolated, they can’t get home. • While we are hard of hearing, Manipulation promises that the newest “Identity” it offers will be the shoes only their feet can occupy and will be the shoes they click three times to take them home.   • They are calling for us!.

• Community, our future needs you • Grands & Elders, our grandchildren and their children’s children’s children need you • Parents, “Children are the reward of life” - even in an oppressive environment • We are all teachers Can we relearn, teach and re-teach academic subjects - maths, science, history, social studies, art - in ways to heal their and our fears associated with the academic subject or social requirement? These wounds show as apathy. Can we relearn, teach and reteach to heal their and our forced alienation from our community, and culture, and people that’s often required for success in the subject area? Yes, we can.
