TIP OF THE DAY In a rare change of pace this week I’ve decided to start the New Year off with a bang and opt for an accumulator. Now some of you may regularly participate in these of a weekend if an attempt to liven up the afternoons proceedings particularly if you aren’t attending a game in person. One of my favourite bets as you may have gathered from previous posts is the over/under 2.5 goal line in games. Selections can be based on stats or gut feeling but if you add a few of these selections together you can often get an impressive co-efficient. Today’s bet comprises of 5 Over 2.5 goals selections from across the English leagues. Manchester City v Blackpool This one is the shortest price of the lot but I think it’s a solid one to start off with, Manchester City are ramping up their form in recent weeks, strikers such as Tevez and Balotelli have been firing well and with their last 4 games going over 2.5 the home side could cover this line on their own if they hit top gear. Ian Holloway deserves a huge amount of credit for what he has achieved with Blackpool this season, their gung ho approach means not only do they very rarely fail to find the back of the net but they have looked defensively frail. West Brom v Manchester United. United’s away form continues to be the only thing stopping them running away with the title this year and I think their trip to the Hawthornes could hold goals. Sir Alex will be keen to kick on after the last minute sucker punch at Birmingham with Rooney looking more and more desperate to score. The hosts are another side that fail to keep clean sheets (1 all season) but possess some attacking quality in players like Odemwingie and Tchoyi and they will want to get at the league leaders from the word go. Bristol City v Cardiff I think this one could have a few goals in it, the inability of both sides to keep clean sheets could see this bet come in. Cardiff have only kept a clean sheet in 2 of their away games this season and have only failed to score 2 of them. Bristol City meanwhile have found the net in 75% of their home games this season and the previous meeting between these two ended 3-2 earlier in the season. I can see Cardiff nicking this one 2 or 3-1. Norwich v QPR Norwich’s defensive line is in a bit of a state this week with Barnett and Ward definitely out of the game and the last few games have seen plenty of goals at both ends with 4 out of their last 5 going over 2.5 goals. In Grant Holt and Wes Hoolahan Norwich have two potential match winners and both have been finding the net in recent weeks so I have high hopes they can breach the QPR back line. The visitors have been brilliant to watch at times this season, Taarabt is possibly the best player in the league on his day and he had a fantastic game away against Coventry last time out creating chances for others and himself. Neil Warnock will want to kick on at the summit of The Championship after two wins over the festive period and I think this one could be a cracker with a few goals. Watford v Portsmouth Watford will be looking to take advantage of a Pompey side that is looking more and more threadbare and the weeks pass. Despite their inability to fill the bench at times this season their form isn’t too bad and they’ve scored in their last 4 games. The hornets last 3 games have gone over 2.5 goals and Watford have only failed to score in 18 of their home games this year. Again I think this could be a case for Watford to win this one given Portsmouth’s issues with who is unavailable for this game through one reason or another but hopefully the game will contain a few goals. The previous meeting this season ended 3-2 so fingers crossed for a repeat performance. The combined odds on these selections with Betbubbles is 17.72 (Just over 16/1). 2/10 Stake. Happy New Year and Good Luck.
